The quintessential medium-shot glass that isn't over the top and gets the job done. It can distort proportions in its centre if a subject gets too close - so, I tend to be careful in that regard.

My all-time favourite zoom. It has a faster f stop than a parfocal, so it's great in low light, and it has a long throw. This means I can film people from a long distance and in low light without making them feel self-conscious.

This is specialist kit that creates larger-than-life, blow-up imagery. Macros are known for photographing or videoing insects, flowers, minute details like stitchwork, or even your dental work.

More telephoto than the 50mm macro and with Image Stabilisation. Get ready for the big picture.

I like to think of this as my artisan light. It produces a thin slither of an easy-to-control beam that can be used as a subject backlight or a hair light. It really brings out a subject, especially in an interview situation.

This can be quite a useful fill light especially if diffused; it can also be used with a cookie thrown over-the-top in order to create aesthetically pleasing patterns behind interviewees, just to break the monotony of a bare wall.

I think of these as my luminosity lights. Cameras need a certain amount of brightness in order to properly expose an image. Simply switching this light on and bouncing it against a white-balanced wall raises luminosity and drastically improves a shot. It's also bright enough to be used as a Book Light. I have two of these.

This is the star of the show. Its lightbox mount exploits the so-called Book Lighting technique: viz., two internal diffusers and a reflective baffle. This produces an unspeakably-soft wraparound lighting effect that's perfect for interviews and many other applications. I have two of these.
